Surgery

Tiegan has been digging at his ears since he was at least 6 months old. We kept talking to our Pediatrician about this, and he kept telling us it was just a strange habit of his and that his ears were completely clear and there was nothing to worry about. Tiegan also kept getting sick. He had strep (which they told us kids his age almost never get), and then the chicken pox (which he had a 1% chance of having since he was immunized for it), and then he started doing this horrible snoring thing. Each time we would take him in we would be sent home with some sort of antibiotic or steroid or something. Finally we took him to an ENT, who took one look in his ears and went, "Holy cow! This baby has so much mucus on his eardrums his hearing must be reduced by 30%!" Then he asked us if he has been digging at his ears. Awesome. Thank you Pediatrician. The ENT then looked in his throat and told us that his adenoids were so swollen he couldn't breathe, and his restricted airway was causing the snoring. So we made an appointment for the next week to have tubes put in his ears and his adenoids taken out (they won't take the tonsils too unless they are at least 2).

Here is Tiegan prepped for surgery in his dress. He HATED it and kept trying to rip it off. Trent was proud that "His boy didn't want to look like a girl" :)

They gave Tiegan some medicine that made him Super loopy. He was giggling and couldn't stand up straight. It was funny, but sad and scary at the same time. Nobody wants their baby to have to undergo surgery.

But thankfully he came out of it just fine. They let us go back and hold him the second he woke up and started crying. He slept for the rest of the day and hasn't been sick since. Yay!
